If you’re always on the hunt for shiny things around the Christmas season, from putting extra lights on your tree to finding one more glow-in-the-dark inflatable snowman—we understand. Here in Central Texas, we take our holiday decorating to some next-level lengths, and we’re proud of it. For families all over Texas, hopping in the car, turning on the holiday tunes, and going out to look at the lights can be the highlight of the season.

We put together a list of our favorite lightshows in the area, so that when you’re ready to take the family out to see the sights, you’ll have the hottest spots all mapped out!

Santa’s Ranch – New Braunfels

From angels, snowmen, and other Christmas favorites, Santa’s ranch also features some unusual additions like dinosaurs, space shuttles, and monster trucks. Nothing more festive than a glow-in-the-dark Stegosaurus. Drive through winding country roads this holiday season, pack snacks, and get ready to be dazzled by this truly extra show of Christmas lights. Don’t forget to grab your kettle corn, roasted pecans, and hot chocolate from the concession stand!

Zilker Park Trail of Lights

Everyone’s heard of the Trail of Lights in Austin, and with good reason! This walking trail opens every night from 7-10pm, from December 10-23rd. The list of attractions this trail offers is extensive, from a glowing Ferris wheel, to interactive activities for the kids, and a tunnel through the bat cave strewn with yet more Christmas lights. As mentioned, it’s a walking trail that spans 1.25 miles of twinkling lights, so you can get your cardio in as you take in the sights. If you want to have the trail all to yourself, you can even buy exclusive passes that let you onto the trail before everyone else.

Enchanted Springs Ranch Old West Christmas Light Fest

If you love Westerns, get ready for the lightshow of a lifetime. This drive-through hill country celebration will be sure to satisfy the buckaroo in each of you, as it features more than 40 Old West buildings covered in twinkling lights under a starry sky. If you just want to stay in the car and enjoy the show, but this event has more to offer if you’re willing to walk around and brave the cold. You can take family photos in front of historic buildings and with Santa, or just try all the holiday treats. Enjoy family fun around the campfire and don’t forget to visit Santa’s longhorns!

Winter Wonderland at Circuit of the Americas

From a giant dragon to a lantern festival, Winter Wonderland’s traditional Chinese event is truly a sight to behold. Glowing sculptures, a light tunnel, and food trucks are just a few of the attractions this festival has to offer. Don’t miss out on the petting zoo, Santa’s workshop, or the largest outdoor skating rink in Texas, either! Get ready to be really and truly dazzled by this wonderland of Christmas lights.
