These days people have found ways to move their birthday parties, weddings, baby showers, and other celebrations to a virtual environment. While the upcoming holidays will certainly present new challenges, that doesn’t mean they can’t be celebrated. If you’re wondering how to host a virtual Halloween party, we’ve found some fun, unique ideas that you and your (virtual) guests will enjoy.

How to Host a Virtual Halloween Party

Don’t be intimidated by hosting a virtual Halloween party. Obviously, some things won’t translate to the virtual environment, but some things weren’t possible or feasible beforehand that are now. Remember, the point is to see your friends and have some fun celebrating this spooky holiday together!

Wear a Costume

This should go without saying (I mean, it’s a Halloween party, right?), but encourage all your guests to dress up just like they were attending an in-person event. Don’t worry, no one has to know if your costume is only from the waist up.

Creative Cocktails

For those amateur mixologists out there, mixing up wild new drinks can be the best part of hosting a party. Don’t just throw your bar towels and martini glasses out the window! Here’s a solution that’s fun and still has everyone enjoying your drinks.

Find a few cocktail recipes, or create your own, and share them a week before the party so guests can make their own at home. Or, even better, send your guests some small bottles of the ingredients and then show them how to prepare the cocktail over video.

Preemptive Party Bags

Are you the kind of party host that gives out party favor to each guest when they leave?

This year, flip it around and send your guests gift before they (virtually) arrive. If you put some fun toys or gag gifts in the bags, your guests can have fun with them during your party.

Virtual Entertainer

From Elvis Presley imitators to live guitar solos, virtual entertainers are a great way to kick off your virtual Halloween party. Hire them for just a few minutes and give everyone an experience like they’ve never had before.

Virtual Dance Party

If you’re more of the dancing kind, you don’t have to go out to a bar or club to recreate the experience. Create the perfect Halloween party playlist yourself or ask your guests some of their favorite dance songs beforehand.

Then play the music on your video call so everyone can hear and join in with you. Send out a quick tutorial video on the Thriller dance a few days early so everyone knows the moves when it comes on!

Scary Movie on Teleparty

Have you heard of a Netflix party? No? Well, Teleparty created a Chrome extension that syncs up your Netflix viewing with your friends so that you can all watch a movie simultaneously in your own homes.

Find your favorite horror, or at least Halloween-themed, flick and invite your guests to watch it with you. Make some popcorn, break out the movie theater candy, and snuggle up on the couch with a queue of thrillers waiting to be watched.

Party Games with Houseparty

The Houseparty app made big waves early in quarantine by bringing some structured fun to typical video calls. The app makes your favorite party games like trivia and Pictionary possible through your smartphone or tablet. Creating an account is free and the app is easy enough for even the technologically-inept to use.

Make this Halloween a blast by using some of these virtual party ideas. While you’re at it, take a look around for some spooky haunted mansions that might just be your next fix-n-flip project. Visit our Rehab Loans page to learn more about how to get started with financing to close on your deal fast.
